Suggestions for the "Add Family" button

I'v gotten a lot of feedback from clients about how they think the "add family" button could function differently and would like to suggest some modifications that may make it more pragmatic for them.

1. When someone clicks "Add Family" a dialog box could come up with two options asking if they want to either add an "Archived Family" or a "New family". If they select "Archived Family" it would bring up the usual duplicate/deleted families window, but instead of "Show All" being selected by default, "Not used in Church" would be marked.
If the individual clicks "New Family" then the program would function as it already does and takes them to the blank family screen, and if they type in a first/last name that is already in another program or got deleted, it would bring up the current duplicate/deleted families window with "Show All" being selected by default. From here they can decided if who they're adding really is a new family or not.

I think its important to make two distinct buttons because A) It shows anyone who's using the program that deleted families can be brought back or pulled in from another program, and B) it removes a step in order to reach this screen which allows for faster data modification.
The dialog box that initially shows up could have a brief explanation that an "Archived Family" is a family that was deleted from the program or exists in another program, or something to that effect.

2.  A method to delete families from the duplicate/deleted families window. Ideally a method that lets us do this by entire groups. My suggestion for this would be to create checkboxes next to each of the family names and add in a "Permanently Delete Family" button somewhere in the window. If the checkboxes can also be made to work with the "Use selected families from the list" button then it would also help individuals pull in families from other programs all at once instead of one by one.

Of the two requests above I think number 1. would be the most beneficial to our clients, especially the newer/untrained users.

It also would make sense to change the Delete button in the family screen so that it says something like Archive/Delete. All good ideas!

Joel, I like your first idea - it's simple and could make it more obvious just what you can do with the add family. Does anyone else reading this have any comments?
