Reason for Changes Reports and Additional Selections

We need to be able to pull Reports on the Reasons for Changes. For instance, I'd like a report of all my families that have a Reason for Change of Moved to Another Parish and right now, I can't get that.

Hi Pat. From my other reply... These "reasons" aren't stored in the main database. As such we're not currently able to make these fields available for selections.

However, if you open the \Data\Reasons.log file with Notepad, then copy/paste the contents into an Excel spreadsheet you can easily filter for find records that contain a specific phrase such as Moved.

How often do need to generate reports from the "reasons"?

I need to create a report from the reasons file every month, it is very frustrating to have to go about it in such a round about way.  If the information could be kept in the database it would speed up my efficiency!

The report needs to reflect any changes to any file for the Diocese Development office.  They need to be kept up to date on all updates from parishioners.  If we could make this a priority it would be so helpful.

Christine, we already have a solution that allows parishes to electronically communicate parishioner adds, changes, and deletes to the diocese.  And it incorporates this "reason" information.  In fact, this feature was added to Church Office specifically to support our diocesan communication solution.  I'm sure this would be significantly easier than the process you are going through now.  Please have someone from your diocesan office contact us for more information.  You can have them send an email to solutions@parishdata.com or call us at 800-892-5202.  Johnny Stoupenos is the director of the Catholic Market at Ext 8057.  Or you can reach Maria Treptow, our account manager at Ext. 7770.

I would like this too! Preferably, in a format, of an individual change report, as in major changes made to the family we can print out a change form (kind of like a receipt) that shows the change just made and staple it to their paper file. Right now we are having to pull each paper file and write notes about changes made in PDS, which ends up being very messy when they move alot or get married, then divorced, etc. A change log receipt would be nice for each individual change to be printed for that particular family/member.

Carrie, I may be missing something, but you can print out a listing of all the changes made to a particular family now by clicking on Log Report on the "Reasons for Changes" screen.

I know that, but it cuts off the information. For instance, if we change someones address, i want to know what the address was changed to. ON that report, only a part of the address shows so it can fit in that column. I'm just looking for a little something more informative, not so much the fact that it was changed, but what information was actually changed. Make any sense?

Hi Carrie. All of the listing reports are dynamic so if you change their parameters they should resize automatically. First, a few simple suggestions:
1. Make sure your Margin Style is set to * Smallest Margins
2. Switch to Landscape
3. Change the Page Style to Condensed Format

This may be good enough to get the additional information you require.

If the data is still being chopped off you could create a new Page Style (with the Edit Style button) and select any size font that you can still see... or in a more extreme case, use legal or larger paper size.

Also, this report is simply printing what is displayed in the grid, so you can de-emphasize the columns you don't care about as much by making them smaller. For example if the time isn't as important. You can reduce a column down to the minimum required for the column heading. Likewise for columns you DO care about you can make them larger. The changes you make to this grid will be reflected in your report. I hope this helps.
