I think it would be great if the View User Log allowed a copy of the log to be viewed in text editor so that easy searches could be performed.

I currently make a copy of the log file to open in Wordpad but it would be great if the program did it automatically.

I sometimes copy the text to show the user where the "event" happenned. The options are greatly expanded when working within a text editor.

Another advantage of an editor is that you can print just part of the log and get the entire log entries instead of the appreviated version that is available in the print log feature.

I had a need to capture a detailed error message and the only way I could figureout was to open a log in an editor.

We need a spell checker here for the spelling impaired or is it impeared or impareded?

I used a text editor this week to capture the complete error message that didn't show in the default log report.

I regularly make a copy of the log and peruse it in a text editor to learn more about why things happen. I have also imported it into a spreadsheet to sort it.

For example, I can sort and capture all the emails that were changed during a month and distribute it to the staff so they can update their personal Outlook lists.

Thanks!

We discussed adding search feature to the log screen earlier this week. This is about 25th in the overall priority list (but it is somewhat easier than the others - so it may get chosen sooner).

I would like to request that on the View User Log Page of each of the 3 modules, Church, Formation and School that a "Search" Box be added that would allow a search specifically for a name or ID number so that we can view activity associated with that name or ID number.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled
Search box on View User Log Screen.

FYI, this is still on page 1 of the "to do list" but some recent developments have pushed this down to about 30.

Look for this in the 7.1 D update that is now available for desktop and coming soon for OnDemand.  There is now a Filter button on the View Log screen.
