Learned a very valuable lesson the other day...didn't back up before closing Facility Scheduler and lost 5 - 6 hours of work. How about a popup message reminder to back up before exiting the program? Would probably be valuable for other programs too.

Hi Lillian.  There is a challenge here because PDS is a multi-user system.  Backups require exclusive access to the database - no one else can be in the system.  So we have the first user on the selected day trigger the backup - before anyone else is in the system.  We wouldn't be able to do a backup when you exit if anyone else were in the system.  Unfortunately some users forget to exit the program at end of day and that can cause problems too.

I have a couple of suggestions.  Set a recurring reminder in your calendar to remind you to back up near the end of the day.  Alternatively desktop users can use the Windows Task Scheduler to automatically trigger a backup after normal working hours when everyone should be out of the system.  Use the same command line parameters that you use with your desktop icon with the additional parameter of DOBACKUP

When the program is started with the DOBACKUP option the program launches, backs up to the \Backup\Week folder then closes.  This is a way to have the backups happen at the end of the day.  Contact the support team if you need assistance with this.
