Duplicate addresses

Is there a way to check for duplicate addresses in church office? Some of our parishioners who move out of the parish do not notify us. Someone moves into their home and registers for the parish. Without having to check first, I now have 2 families registered in the same household. One doesn't belong. Is there a report that can check the addresses to see if more than one family is registered in a household?

Using Search by Partial Address on the Family screen would work if you want to check right after you enter a new family to see if any other family is using the same address.

Exporting all the families to an Excel file and then sorting by the Address1 field or using the Pivot table function to tell you how many of the same addresses are in your list would be a way to check everything at once.

We haven't run into this problem too often because we use the CASSIt and NCOA Link modules to update our addresses for bulk mailing (we get enough discounts to offset the cost, plus it's fun!), and I update even our inactive families a couple of times a year. That way if the USPS knows that someone moved, we do too.

Thanks Lorraine. I was just going to suggest NCOA Link. It is an optional feature in CASSIt!

File > Bulk Mail/CASS > Cass It! Certification
